Prestigious Annual Luncheon Honored Brookfield Financial Properties Chairman John Zuccotti, Bank of America/Banc of America Securities, Washington Mutual and Harold DeRienzo of the Parodneck Foundation
New York, NY – Today U.S. Senator Charles Schumer delivered the keynote address at the 31st Annual Awards Luncheon for the New York Housing Conference (NYHC) and National Housing Conference (NHC). In addition, Diana Taylor, superintendent of the New York State Banking Department, and Shaun Donovan, commissioner of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, delivered remarks at the luncheon. Drawing nearly 1,400 attendees, the Awards Luncheon is one of the largest and most prestigious annual gatherings of the affordable housing community in the nation.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient was John Zuccotti, chairman of Brookfield Properties and chairman of the Real Estate Board of New York. He also serves as senior counsel to Weil, Gotshal & Manges, and has a long, distinguished career in public service and the private sector.
The luncheon also honored Bank of America/Banc of America Securities with the Public Investment Award, Washington Mutual with the Community Banking Award and Harold DeRienzo, president of the Parodneck Foundation for Self-Help Housing and Community Development, with the Community Service Award.
Washington Mutual’s award was accepted by Donna M. Wilson, Northeast president of Community and External Affairs. Brian Tracey, Mid-Atlantic Region manager for Bank of America’s Community Development Banking Group, accepted on behalf of his companies.
Eugenia Flatow, board member for the Parodneck Foundation, accepted on behalf of Harold DeRienzo.
The New York Housing Conference is co-chaired by Clara Fox and John Kelly, a partner in the law firm of Nixon Peabody LLP. Robert O. Lehrman, chairman of Resheff, Inc., is chairman of the awards luncheon. The luncheon was held this year at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers.
